I have a deep interest in how our sensory experiences shape perception, and I’m currently exploring a perception-first approach to experience design and experimental tools. I refer to this approach as SensoryX. Broadly, it draws on findings from sensory research to inform how we design systems and experiments that are better aligned with human sensory perception. I see this as a way to improve understanding of individual differences and to incorporate inclusivity, and much of my current work focuses on health-related contexts such as neurodiversity and child development.
My background training is in vision science and empirical psychology, and much of my earlier work involves stimulus statistics, a building block of sensory experience. I currently work at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore. I am an interdisciplinary researcher who uses a range of approaches, including computational methods, behavioural paradigms, eye-tracking and virtual reality.
I’m always keen to discuss science and opportunities for collaboration or consultation. Feel free to reach me at han.shuier@gmail.com if you have any questions about my work, are interested in collaborating, or would like to explore tailored, professional consultation. A full list of my work is also available at my Google Scholar profile.
